Low-Light/Night Pistol Event

This training session is more of a workshop than a formal class. Participants will be given the opportunity to practice a variety of approaches to solving the problems of shooting accurately in low light situations. Then the participants will test their ability to apply their solutions and build confidence in their success.

The first practice session will start in daylight, where the participants will develop their ability to use unsighted firing, known as “point shooting.” After sunset, we will conduct two firing drills to test and score the point shooting technique. Then we will practice two styles of flashlight techniques: the Harries and the SureFire techniques.

After the practice session, each participant will shoot a course of fire that will test their ability to hit targets reliably using their chosen technique. And then all participants will engage a house-clearing drill, which will be scored.

The evening will conclude with a novel shoot-off, where participants will have to identify and shoot a specific target before their partner, in a double-elimination competition. For their effort, the winner will receive the praise and admiration of all participants.
